In 2026 we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the United States.
America250 is the national initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States, celebrating the nation’s history, values, and future through education, engagement, and service. The State Archives of NC will commemorate this event with One Day Wonders exhibits and events throughout the state.

A New Display Case
The FoA is proud to support the State Archives of North Carolina with the purchase of a new display case! The beautiful new display case will be used at State Archives of North Carolina events.
The purchase was co-sponsored by The North Carolina Literary and Historical Association, Inc.
Teacher Institute 2026
The FoA is proud to facilitate programs at the State Archives of North Carolina. The Archives Teacher Institute was an amazing event held at the State Archives’ headquarters in Raleigh earlier this week. Fourteen teachers from across the state brainstormed new lesson components using primary sources that their research uncovered. The FoA was the fiscal agent for this aspect of a federally funded DocsBox project to bring State Archives collections to classrooms, https://archives.ncdcr.gov/educators/docsbox-resources.
